Broadway Construction – Slough
Broadway Construction is a family-managed firm, established for more than 30 years, with a turnover of £2m.
Two years ago they brought in a Sales Hunter from the Construction Sales Centre to help develop new relationships across their sector, and ensure a continuing stream of good-quality tenders.
The Sales Hunter has worked with Broadway for just 2 or 3 days a month, but it is calculated that over 70 per cent of their new tenders and successful bids are a result of his work. There are currently 18 tenders promised or likely to land, ranging from £50k to £1m.
He explains:
A lot of the tenders I have brought in for Broadway Construction have been highly targeted in the west London and Thames Valley area. This has proved a very successful area with smaller works leading on to larger projects.
Carefully focused relationship-building is a key to what we do. We are developing some potentially very productive relationships with both architects and schools. It has led to a steady flow of smaller refurb works up to £50k each, including one now at Eton College.
Outside the schools sector, a recent tender with a local church minister and an architect has led to a design-build for a £250k church in Surrey. The margin on this project alone will cover all of the Sales Hunter’s fees for the whole year!
